Dominating over Karpacz, Śnieżka (1602 m above sea level) is undoubtedly a symbol of the resort and the entire Karkonosze Mountains. The mountain is known for its harsh weather conditions and is shrouded in fog for most of the year (over 300 days). At the summit, there is a distinctive building of the Meteorological Observatory called the "flying saucers".
